Eligibility Criteria (Critical Updates)

The rules for eligibility have become more specific due to recent court rulings:

  • D.El.Ed Only: As per the Supreme Court’s landmark judgment, B.Ed degree holders are no longer eligible for Primary TET (Classes 1–5). You must have a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).

  • Academic Marks: Minimum 50% in Senior Secondary (10+2). A 5% relaxation (45%) is provided for SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates.

  • Age Limit: Minimum 18 years and Maximum 40 years (as of Jan 1, 2026). Standard age relaxations apply for reserved categories.

  • “Appearing” Candidates: Students currently in their final year of D.El.Ed or those who have cleared Part-1 and are awaiting final results are typically eligible to apply.


Exam Structure

The exam consists of 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) to be completed in 150 minutes. There is no negative marking.
